Congrats all niner for....
1)100% (!!) in O level 2009
2)100% pass in Bio and Phy! (!!!!)
(will update more on this when deyi has updated in on their website)

Anyway, yesterday was up and down for all of us. Congrats to those that did very well. Those who thinks that u didnt did that well, it is alright. The JAE only ends on Friday, so take the time to think carefully. If u think u need any advice/consultation, i think most poly are having those course selection advice session going on. And open house of JCs have 'chit-chat' session too. =D

After u go to this website, scroll down, and click the 'JAE Pin' button. It will take u to another webpage that requires u to pin in ur NRIC and JAE PIN. JAE PIN can be found on the top right hand corner of that letter MrAng gave ytd. The rest is like fill in the blanks.

JAE ends on friday, 4pm sharp. Please submit JAE before that time! and it is advices to print a hard copy of the verification slip for future reference.

There will be a meeting over chalet's detail 2moro at 3pm, ex-co pls come! nid plan in game! grr.

In case u guys dunno,( i think many alr knew the nightmare from the look of my FB home)

O level result will be release on the 11 Jan, Monday, 2pm.

According to MrAng, please wear your School uniform. Half/full u will be confirm on a later date.
And thanks to this change, VARIOUS JC will have a change in their Open house date, so pls look out for the edited version of that day post* point below.

Class chalet planning to goin well. Meeting will be held on the 13th of Jan, after 5(the time JC open house end.) Selected ppl to attend only.

Just an update on O level result release day. Rumours said that date of release has been postpone to 12 jan? No idea. But do lookout for any News report. ha.

Chalet Rules

Hey everyone, William here.

In order to appease the worries of those attending the chalet and their parents, i've done up the guidelines for the chalet. Even though I don't sound serious at times, please do take these guidelines seriously this time. Its for the sake of everyone.

Chalet Guidelines

1. No getting drunk.
You get drunk, I’ll make sure I send you back home.

2. No promiscuous activities.
Go look up the dictionary if you don’t know what it means. I want to see nothing of this sort between same or different genders. Even in bedrooms.

3. No noise after 10pm.
Charges are $200 per head in the chalet if the above rule is broken. Not by me, but by the chalet’s management. Well, if you don’t want to pay, make sure you hide your head well, or else make less noise after 10.

4. No smoking.
Second-hand smoke contains a large amount of harmful substances, you see. Inhaled directly, smoke contains 5.3 to 43 nanograms of carcinogenic nitrosamines compared to 620 to 823 nanograms when inhaled second-hand. The second-hand smoker also inhales eleven times the volume of smoke itself, 18000 nanograms in all. So, think of the others and refrain from smoking there.

5. No getting hurt intentionally or losing your lives.
We're (The ones handling the chalet) responsible for everyone’s well-being during this chalet, so I don’t want to see anything like this. Do take care of yourselves well.

6. Do not enter the rooms of those of different genders during sleep time.
You know what I mean. You’ll sleep outside if I see something like this.

So, if there's any questions, please do approach me. I'll clarify all your doubts.

EDIT: After thinking long and hard about it, the word "rules" sound too harsh. After all, its supposed to be a fun event, no?

Class Chalet Update:

Chalet will be shift to 17-19 Jan. Price is reduced to 23bucks per head.

Pls sms me/william/nixon if u are unhappy/disagree with change of date. We feel that the reallocation of time will be cheaper for us. And we afraid that the Olvl result will be release on the 20th.

Anyway, some ppl are saying that Olvl result release is between 12-14 Jan or any date later. If anyone has any definite date on it, pls update!

Class, I know people are busy earning money to go this chalet/do whatever they want. But please rely to me/nixon as we need to do some $ calculation. Jus 5 sec to reply Ok/Not ok. Isnt that hard right?

The cost of the chalet ONLY is about $900. And the food i estimate for BBQ is around $100++ for 45 peoples. we still need to settle our food issue on other days as well.

SERIOUSLY, FUN.

due to my ~~extreme~~ boredom from being home ~~cause of some stupid illness~~ i've helped Xiu Yi to change the class blogskin and give it a "fresh" new look ;D

Heyy people :D take a break and practise the following actions, (but do them on your own risk!!)

1) DO NOT DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
Well, as you all know if we continue to do our homeworks, we are actually cutting down x number of trees everyday. (x is a postive integer). Plus, we are also contributing to greenhouse effect by deforestation. Yeah so people don't do your homework kays!

2) DO NOT DO ONLINE HOMEWORK!
By doing online assignments, you are actually switching on the computers and therefore wasting electricity. This is equivalent to wasting unnecessary money, spoiling your own eyes and wasting the earth's resources too. The best is not to even switch on your computers.

3) DO NOT USE CALCULATORS!
By using calculators, we students are actually again wasting resources and adding to the greenhouse effect. Batteries which are required to operate the calculators that you all are using now will eventually ran out because we keep on changing batteries everytimes they died. So, now we have to start memorising all the compound formulae like sin, cos and tan; square and cube roots ; logarithimic numbers. If you have completed the first action, never mind this.

4) NO FANS AND LIGHTS IN CLASSROOMS!
Again, having fans and lights would generate electricity, wasting electricity and increasing the rate of greenhouse effect building up. Thus, we students have to work in a stuffy and light-less classroom.

5) DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL!
See, everytimes we go to school, we travel by public transports like mrt and buses. The harmful gases produced by the vehicles are contributing to the ozone layer. So, the best is to stay at home and never ever go to school. Imagine that, we students get to stay at home and we wont need to do ANY single homeworks!( refer to 1st and 2nd actions) SHIOK!

Hi guys, William here.

Since today's officially teacher's day, i'll post something interesting about teachers in Singapore. Well, although it's not exactly made by me and shamelessly copied from another source(again), i thought it would be fun to share this with everyone.

13 things a teacher in Singapore hates about being a teacher
1. I hate it when parents call me on my handphone at 10pm on a Saturday evening. To ask me why their daughter hasn’t returned home yet. Err sorry I forgot to give her the electronic tracking device that she’s supposed to put around her collar. *stabs own eye with rusty fork*

2. I hate explaining to non-teachers exactly what non-teaching work we do. They seem to simplify it into two categories only: ‘Marking’ and ‘Setting tests’. If only it were true.

3. I hate collecting things from students. Money, consent forms, Edusave forms. I hate em all. There will always be those few jokers who ‘forgot to bring it’, and when you ask them again at the end of the week, they realise that they have actually ‘lost it’. *extracts own tooth with rusty pliers*

4. I hate it that new initiatives are being stuffed down our throats, many at a time. Teach Less, Learn More? More Time, Teach More, is more like it. I wonder which bright scholar sparks at M*OE thought of these new-fangled ideas which are really, paraphrased old or current practices. I bet these scholars have some monthly quota of projects and ideas to engulf unsuspecting teachers. *stabs scholars with wooden spoon*

5. I hate it that we (teachers and students) have to wake up at the crack of a chicken’s backside to get to school. I hate it that M*OE uses the transport operators’ need to ferry factory workers as an excuse. I hate it that they are so damn inflexible over such a simple yet important thing.

6. I hate VPN. I hate it that we are expected to do work at home, and I hate that it is officially sanctioned. Overtime pay, anyone?

7. I hate the fact that I can bring my work home.

8. I hate having to mark anywhere, anytime. When I was at Xiang’s wake, I brought a stack of papers to mark. When I went to the clinic some months back to see the doc, I had some test papers with me.

9. I hate being told that ‘teaching is our core business’, and in the same breath, given a platter of non-teaching projects, assignments, surveys, reports and gobbledydook.

10. I hate unnecessary meetings. I hate the fact that the apparent reason why meetings are sometimes held is that they need to capture evidence for some irrelevant award. Oh, we need proof that this useless piece of information was communicated? Just look at the minutes of meeting number 2563!

11. I hate PDS, SEM, CDA, NEA, and every other useless acronym that was invented to make teachers’ lives miserable.

12. I hate strategic thrusts, long term goals, short term goals, KPIs. I wish I was a teacher in the early 90s, when none of these existed. Strategic thrusts belong in an MNC boardroom, not an educational institution. For those of you who think schools should be run like companies… listen! Did you hear that? It’s the sound of me not giving a damn.

13. I hate, no, absolutely detest, abhor, loathe, wayang.

Mrs Ang has been a great English teacher for 309. Her lessons are interesting, fun, enjoyable. Her jokes & cute activities ( such as ask nixon for a hawaain dance) make her niners laugh and awake during lessons. She's very strict abt handing in homeworks, she does that for our own good as it will train us to hand in works punctually.:D. basically, niners love her lessons.. FYI, according to her, everyday is her birthday lol...THANK OU MRS ANG

Mr NEO

Though Mr Neo did not teach us in any subjects, FYI, he is our co-form teacher. he tries his best to finish up things that have to be done and let his students to do their own things. He concerns abt our grades. i was amazed when he said " There is no point of taking tripple science if cant score well in " That sentence motivates me to really study and work hard to score well. Thank you mr neo

Mr SUPER EVIL SABAHAN NIAO HIEW

He is known as Mr sabahan. frankly, HE IS AMAZING!! i never got bored in his lessons, he is very punctual for lessons, FUNNY, easy going, friendly, joker but know when to be serious, seldom give remedials coz i think he managed his time well. Seldom see him got angry, he understand what he is doing. BTW can be approached anytime even on saturday. Never fail to make his students laugh during lessons, trust his students...all my grades for maths really improved after he taught us!! so i think i am one of the lucky student who has a chance to be taught by this EVIL teacher..Though his nick name is EVIL, but he is NOT. Hint when he wants to give us class test " I have finished the chapter" lol lame right?

Ms Tan

Here is another EVIL teacher. I think our class is blessed with all the EVIL teachers huh? kay, i really enjoyed her lessons, never got bored too..though i admit sometimes i sleep during lessons but it was not coz i was bored but i was tired and she is very understanding. She is willing to stay back to give us remedials and make sure we understand the topics. Frankly chemistry is not an easy subject to teach kay? like the topic on SALT...took me really long to understand and CHEMICAL calculation, i was totally blur abt that topic, but managed to score well after had a remedial session with her. THANK YOU SO MUCH ms tan...

MR Kelly Tan

He is a new teacher in our school...he teaches us emaths.. he is fun, funny, and tries his best to deliver the topics and make the lessons interesting. Give us break in his 3 periods of lessons..during the break, he tries to show us interesting stuffs...lol..btw he is a very high tech teacher...lol...

Mr Ang

also known as uncle in our class...funny, understanding, easy going teacher. Love to give examples to make students understand better. Trust his students in handing in works an files. Always guide us during praactical..NEVER SEE HIM GOT ANGRY...wow!! amazing rite?

Ms NG

one of our favourite teacher. am i rite niners? Ms ng tries her best to teach biology in our class..she always motivate us to do well in studies. uses other method to make students understand better like telling stories.. funny, love to tell jokes, give us goodies as reward for answering her question. give us lotsa help during practicals..tell us our mistakes so we can learn from it and learn not to do it again.

Ms Lim
Ms lim is our Geog teacher..hehe..fun, easy going. Make her lesson as interesting as possible.
never got angry, can see that she is trying very hard to finish up the sylabus though lessons only 3 periods per WEEK..thx ms lim

Mr Goh
TAMIL TIGER COMING!!! tuck in your shirt!! lol kidding..mr Goh teaches us SS ( social studies). at first when i was in sec 1, i though he is very strict teacher, i was very very afraid of him.whenever i saw him, i would quickly check my attire.lol..now? different!! he is a very nice teacher, understanding, slow but steady!! lol..his lessons are very interesting, shows video to make his student awake, and understand the topic better. willing to print out ALL the notes we requested..thx you so much mr goh..

And...I've been thinking about creating a new class shirt or jacket. It won't be like the previous time, definitely, and i'll try to raise a little money on my own and reduce the cost a little to atone for my mistake previously. And, i think that we should start collecting money for our class fund soon, to prepare for our chalet at the end of the year.

About the HeyMath! Benchmarks Programme

The HeyMath! Benchmarks programme attempts to make the Holiday Homework in Maths interesting and benchmark your performance. The specific objectives of the programme are as follows:

1. Help students revise concepts learnt in the previous years

2. Encourage students to learn independently using animated and interactive lessons

3. Provide continuous practice through online assignments issued every week during the holiday period

4. Benchmark students’ performance relative to their peers from other schools that are participating. HeyMath! will send a report to the participating schools at the end of the holiday period

What should you tell your students?

(i) Students can log in to http://www.heymath.com/ using their Id and password. Their default id and password will be their IC number. If they have forgotten their password, they can contact their teacher to reset their password. All teachers can reset their student’s passwords under Check Messages >> Password
(ii) Upon logging in students should click on

(iii) A list of tests will be displayed to them. They can click on a test, read the instructions and submit the test anytime before the due date.

About the online tests

Here is what i've got to say.

People who need to attend the AEM thingy, and is
unable to make it for the escape theme park thingy
deserves justice. We're not some lifeless zombies.
I mean, that is unfair to those who wish to attend the
outing but is unable to do so as they're tied down
by hectic schedules.

We have to achieve 90% of
attendance in order to attain the $350 of subsidy from
the government. Otherwise, we would have to pay full
for the course, like $400 ? Like not everybody is well
to do and is able to afford to pay for it. And, we've
signed up for it already. It is like compulsary to attend
the lessons. It's not just a matter of money, it is also
about responsibility.

WE'RE NOT LIFELESS ZOMBIES OR BOOKWORMS
READING BOOKS ALL DAY LONG.

I don't know why i'm doing this.
Perhaps i m just terribly disappointed after reading that

I don't know whether this should belong here, but i would say that this isn't really about class matters. Since it seems like there are many anime fans amongst the niners, i'll just post some details about this event then.

For the anime fans in 309, there's a cosplay event coming up. For those who don't know, cosplay is a hobby where a person dresses up as a character. For this event, it will be mainly anime characters. During the event, you can buy anime merchandises there or listen to anime fans participating in a singing competition, where songs sung by these songbirds are mainly anime songs. Besides these, there will be tons of people dressing up as their favourite anime character and you can take pictures of them.

I won't say much now, and i'm not looking for people to join in, unlike what happened during the "escape theme park" thing. It's just for the sake of those anime fans in 309, as i see that there are a good number of anime fans in this class.

So, if you want to come, just come. You've got AEM, test or just want to hole yourself up at home during these two days, i don't care. anymore. If anyone is enthu about AEM and studying and don't give a damn about the class BBQ thing, which in the end seems to turn out like crap, i couldn't care less about it too. i've had enough of this crap. I see lifeless zombies here. I would expect the EOY chalet to turn out like a disaster. Cause: Zombies in 309.

There were some discussion about the class activity during the holidays yesterday. Nixon said that right now, all weekends are booked, but the weekdays are not. However, if we don't act fast, all the rooms would be taken, even during the weekdays.

Firstly, i would like to repeat myself. THIS CLASS CHALET INCLUDES A BARBEQUE PARTY. THOSE WHO WANT TO STAY OVER CAN STAY OVER, BUT THOSE WHO CANNOT DO NOT HAVE TO. As for where the males and the females are sleeping, this will be handled by some of us, and we will definitely make sure that no boy and girl sleeps in the same room. Also, we will definitely ensure that no hanky panky in the chalet is allowed. In the first place, i'm sure all niners are sensible enough not to do such things right? (As for N____, i don't know about him, but at least the boys are there to control him.)

Right, that's all for the chalet. Now for the BBQ...

For the BBQ, our expenditure would be lesser than the class chalet, and we don't need to rush here and there to book a BBQ pit, unlike the chalet, whereby we have to book a room ASAP. Previously, someone claimed that book BBQ pit in whatever coast park will cost $200. I've checked, and that's untrue. The rates are $20 for one day、and this applies to most beaches around Singapore(pasir ris, east coast..). However, once we buy all the makan(food) for the BBQ, it will cost over $100, and probably over $150. Also, there will be no shelter. We will be under the sun for the WHOLE ENTIRE DAY. If things go awry during that day and it rains, then the money would be wasted. We will have to hold the BBQ on the next day. Actually, i can think of very little things to do at the coasts. Maybe we could play in the water or observe the longshore drift for the whole day? Who knows?

One more thing. Please, niners, please co-operate with those who are willing to put in effort and volunteer to help in organizing these activities. Express whatever opinions you want and voice out your needs. Participate in whatever votings they ask, as they need to make decisions that benefits everyone. I hope that i can see something after i come back from taiwan.

Anyways, that's all for the class stuff.

Me and xiuyi will be going(keep whatever wild thoughts to yourself) to taiwan together, and we might buy something for everyone. But one thing's for sure- There will be pictures to share with everyone.

Hey niners, ben here.

i got good news for you all, and also sort of bad news for myself.

309's emaths results got 34 A1 and 4 A2 and 4Bs, i have no idea if it is B3 or B4, but its still a B.
good thing is majority get A1 la, bad thing is we didn't get 100% distinction.

Well, then i must be one of the ones that caused 309 not to have 100% distinction.Like, i got the last in class for Emaths paper 2, 27/50.And Mr hiew got so fed up with me i guess. So i am here to apologise for not trying my best la. I promise to work harder for 309 and most importantly, myself.

And oh well, i am telling you all about my lousy results because i want to motivate myself to improve myself. after all, there is no point hiding right? i think it is better for me to air my dirty clothes so that everyone can see, and i will indirectly be shaming myself, and i will be motivated to work harder what. No choice la, my maths have been sucky all my life, and i really don't want to continue the trend,neither do i want to affect the msg and distinction rate of 309.

Oh well, my geography and physics also confirm fail one, so i might be one of the last in position in class( that is really really sucky).and there goes my hope for single digit L1R5.

i hope that this post wouldn't affect you all or anything, because i just want to make a simple confession here; I flunked Emaths.

For those who want to book a chalet, our dear nixon can handle the booking while we plan for the activities.

For those who want to do a BBQ party, please, please find a venue for us to hold our BBQ. We need to have a venue to hold our BBQ party, or else we will be BBQ-ing in the streets. Once the venue is settled, then activity planning can come in.

Before all this can happen, i need to know whether we shall have a chalet or BBQ. People want BBQ, but don't offer venue for us to BBQ. How to BBQ like that? Chalet at least we have nixon. Then in chalet we also can have BBQ.
